Behind the app
Built by one person, on a Windows PC, with no Mac.
Around me in Japan, new gyms keep opening. Every time I passed one, I thought about how many people want to start training — and how many stop before it ever becomes a habit. I wanted to make something anyone could use, at home or at the gym, that makes you want to come back tomorrow.
I had no programming experience when I started. I wrote Muscle Odyssey in Swift and SwiftUI with AI as my coding partner, edited the code on GitHub in the browser, and built and uploaded it with Codemagic — all from a Windows machine.
The hardest part was never the code. It was deciding what to build, and finding out what people would actually pay for. While researching subscription pricing I found that Korea and Taiwan have large gym cultures too, so I added Korean and Traditional Chinese and set local prices for both. Market research turned out to be the part that mattered most.
